Greek extra virgin olive oil with a medium-sweet herbaceous, well-balanced peppery flavour – PGI (Protected Geographical Indication)

extra virgin olive oil from Crete, Greece, Odysea table of ingredients

From Koroneiki olives, grown in the Chania region of Western Crete – a globally acclaimed area for its production of premium quality olive oil

A medium strength olive oil with notes of grass and a pleasant peppery finish. The oil is extracted cold within hours of the olives being harvested so as to ensure that it retains its strong aroma and high nutrient value.

Olives are harvested manually using the traditional way: when the time of the harvest comes, farmers lay large, rectangular nets under the trees and use slender, hand-held poles about the size of a broom handle, to gently loosen the olives allowing them to fall into the nets below.

They then gather up the nets by hand, and using a hand-held grate, they sift the harvested olives removing any leaves or twigs that have fallen onto the nets. The olives are brought to the olive mill for same-day processing; oil is cold-extracted within hours of harvesting to ensure the natural flavour & high nutritional values of the fruit remain.

Manual harvesting is very labor intensive as one farmer can only harvest approximately 150 kilos (330 pounds) of olives a day, which may yield 15Kg (33 pounds) of olive oil; however, this gentle procedure is key to ensure a fresh, premium tasting olive oil with a delicate aroma.

Judges described as

“A really delightful aroma – slightly sweet, but with lots of the anticipated grassy, herby notes. The taste is rich with green banana and tomato notes, with some sweetness balanced nicely by a touch of lingering bitterness. A really tasty oil, not overly fatty, and a good overall depth of flavour and balance.”

I love this olive oil. Organic and has a beautiful peppery taste. The glass bottle is really lovely with a quality stopper which doesn’t leak. I add this to salads and my coffee. Good value for money. Lovely taste for cooking or drizzling on food. Will definitely buy again.

  2. Kat

The olive oil has a distinct flavour, but not too strong or overpowering. I felt it was good value considering it is organic. I would recommend it to others.

  3. Catherine

I bought this to take daily on a spoon but found this to be too sickly – having said that nothing wrong with this product at all with a slight peppery flavour, so it was used for coking and drizzling over salads – would buy again.

  4. HORUS

Not bad at all, nice bottle, a tad pricey. My usual oil is currently unavailable. Also like an oil that states not made from mixed olive oil and is all from same crop, hand picked, cold pressed on day of picking.

One of the better Olive Oil, great taste, only let down is the bottle, no pourer just a cork, makes it a bit messy, so decanted into another bottle.

This is probably the best reasonably priced EV olive oil I’ve used. It has a great taste, beautiful colour and texture. I’m contemplating moving to the larger can version of it as I’m using it a lot, however my wife has been collecting the bottles and decorating them for use as candlesticks, so I’ve been told to stick to the bottles pro tem. I can thoroughly recommend this EV olive oil.

For me this is the best olive I’ve come across in years. Taste beautiful and is great on skin. If you want quality here it is. 10 out of 10
